This picture arrived today in the email title “Proof!”
Hi, everyone:
We made a safe journey home arriving on Thursday evening at DFW. The only mishap on the return being a lost bag however its been located and is on its way home!I thought everyone would like to see “proof” that we were in India. We had a wonderful experience and have many stories to share. Perhaps the most surprising one being that NO ONE was sick!
Thanks for all of your prayers. We were keenly aware of them and so were all the women. Hope to spend time with each one of you telling the story.
August 2002, Braden Hoelzle & I made a return trip to Thailand to visit old friends & make a few new ones. Many of these photos made my 2002 Year End Christmas E-Card.
Update After the Christmas 2004 Tsunami: All of the beach/canoeing pictures are from the hard hit Phuket area. These pictures serve as a reminder of what a beautiful place Thailand, in paticular Phuket, is.
Summer 2001, with my good buddy Rob Vincent in Samara, Russia I arranged a quick mission/discovery trip to see this formerly Soviet dominated part of the world & the church therein.
My time in Russia was only 2 weeks, preceded by 1 week in Germany & followed by about 5 days in the Austrian Alps. Russia was broken up between Moscow & Samara.
Note, Samara is about 500 Miles from Moscow.
Spring Break 2001, a team of AFC members & I took off for the “4 corners” region where Navajo Nation resides. Here we did service projects & gave old fashioned evening lectures/sermons to the believers in the area.
The Navajos were hospitable & a delight to work for & with.
As these pictures will show, exploring the desert was an adventure for sure.
Hey Shannon, I expect by now you have taken a long deep breath and are out over the ocean on your way to TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hurray! The cookie dough is in the refrigerator and a few other
surprises. We are ready for you. Our prayers have been answered and we are thankful but not as thankful as we will be when you are asleep in your bed. ( meaning we will have our wishes complete)… untill….the next time. It was great to hear your voice when you called. However you sounded tired. I guess that is because you are. What a experience. I am assuming you will be able to check your email on the plane with the adapter. As I think about it you probably won’t be able to. Maybe you will get this before you leave. The taxi will be there to get you in a couple of hours… Love, Mom
Since the Thailand mission campaign of 1999 was so life changing for me, I’ve come back to post some of the emails and journal entries I wrote that summer. This content was not put here until 2005.
There is no way to describe the impact of Thailand 1999 on my world view.
Seeing the church alive & healthy on the other side of the world both encouraged & motivated me unto faith.
These are the pictures of my first true mission trip. They catalog the bridging of culture & the communication of the Good News to the lost of Thailand. Many of the Thai people seen in here are still close friends. Some I saw again on my 2002 return trip.
My co-team members include Tim, Jeff, Braden, Erin & Brandon.
As I hang in a hammock in on the beach in Cha-Am, Thailand (where we had bible camp a few weeks ago) I am writing what might be my last journal entry in Thailand. We are here for a retreat for all of the Christians that are working in the Rahm Christian Center this summer.
At present I am more than a little confused. I was really ready to get back to the States, but now I am pretty dang content where I am. The work at the center has really picked up since we were here (Cha-Am) last. Which is why I have had to piece together my journal entries from emails for the last three weeks or so. Bible studies have been nonstop, it has really been encouraging to walk around the center and not be able to find a place to sit down because every room is being used for bible studies!
The rewards here are sweet. I donâ??t think that I have been a part of something so rewarding in a long time. Frontier Ranch wasnâ??t even this rewarding last year when I was there as a leader, and we had one hundred come to Christ in a week there. The people here are really interested. I see people looking at the cost of loosing their family and friends for the sake of the cross and choosing the cross. Praise the Lord.
I see a people how have learned to walk in faith with mercy in their hearts and Glory in their faces.
I see a people and I pray it wonâ??t long until kingdom comes
(Mullins)
I had no idea that I was going to be quoting that song so much when I got here. It is one that Rich wrote when he got back from Thailand in the mid-eighties. I once saw a picture of him in a traditional Thai hill tribes shirt surrounded by Thai children. Under the picture was a quote by St. Francis of Assisi â??Preach the Gospel always, when necessary use words.â? A suitable quote if when necessary you really do use words. I think Rich and St. Francis did, and I am learning the obedience to the King that I will need to do so. I really can see myself doing this in some capacity in the future; I am totally interested in how the King will use me.
I was thinking about the role that I have this summer in Thailand. And I remembered the title â??Ambassador of Righteousness,â? which has become what I see the missionaries here and world wide …
[Editorial Note (2005): This journal like the previous was cut short by activity. This seems to be my memory of Thailand 1999, we had too much to do but didn’t mind so much.]
Shannon!
Okay, the email got you sent got here quickly…I don’t know what happened
last time…but no worries:)Your last letter was really exciting to read…I like to read them at

is that God is DOING EVERYTHING…I MEAN IT EVERYTHING! I just keep praying
