I’m Still a “Coach Fran Fan”

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005

These quotes were put together at SportsJustice.

Over at Coachfran.com, the posts from the coach range from defiant to apologetic to determined. Here’s a sampling from Dennis Franchione…

In fact, some people right now don’t care about anything we say, which is why in our camp we are working hard on doing instead of talking. Other than a few coaches who look at recruiting news, our staff does not spend time on the Internet and this week we didn’t spend time with emails or letters, either.

And this…

The easiest thing in the world is to sit in the stands or in a press box and have a simple take on what’s happening on the field.

And…

And from an ancient Asian religion there is a saying, “Wise people seek solutions. Others only cast blame.”

And…

I am truly sorry for the way some of this season has developed, and I am truly committed every single day to making adjustments to put us in a position to win three more games. Any anger or frustration out there is certainly understandable and I accept all the repercussions of that. We recognize the same, obvious things that are brought to our attention, and we make no excuses about it. And we realize we must find answers to the problems. And the answers aren’t to put Band-aids on them; instead we have to keep looking for things we can do that are healing for the rest of this year and beyond.

FOX News Honors Texas A&M For Acedemics…

Wednesday, December 15th, 2004

… well, if by “Honors” I mean “laughs at”, and if by “Academics” I mean “eating paper“, then YES Fox News is quite impressed with our “faculty” (really “mob mentality”).

For the fair and balanced version, don’t miss the Aggie List Eater Insider Edition Video (*****/5).

Justice: Aggies on the Rise

By the time it ended, the air was cool and raw, and Kyle Field was swaying with joy and emotion. A&M wide receiver Jason Carter did backflips across the 50-yard line, and Franchione’s grin got wider by the moment.

“We have shown everybody across the nation we can play with the best,” linebacker Archie McDaniel said.

“Sometimes as a coach, you look back on landmark wins for yourself and your career,” Franchione said. “I don’t know where this fits right now, but I know it’s a significant one.”

He knows sportswriters will be quicker to label games like this one, to find some deeper meaning. This time that deeper meaning was easier to find.

College football is about to have its next great program.
